Casting at Weymouth casting club

Post by Kep on Sun Oct 11, 2009 1:47 pm

Well, finally did it and went to a casting event at Dorchester. Opened my eyes up at the different rods, reels and casting styles but enjoyed it and will go again so now on the look out for a rod of around 14' for casting as opposed to my 16' Triplex.

So, how far did I manage I hear u ask: I was constantly at 160 metres with the best at 163m/178yds. I could probably do better with more compression, reel down the butt and a more refined casting style but it's a start and not too bad with just my fishing gear. Looking forward to next time as there is loads of advice and some casters that represent England who are always willing to help and offer assistance.

Thats a pretty good cast Kep. I think I was hitting 130metres a few months ago, but that was just pacing out along the beach. Surprising how far 150metres is when you pace it out.

Nice work Kep.
Very decieving judging the distance of a cast without measuring it out.

Nice one Kep!

Sorry I couldn't make it up there but glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Having fished with you and seen your casting, think you need to take off the 100 to get to my current casting range!!!? rabbit
