I met up with $hockŁeader from the WSF site this moring in Weymouth, what a difference a couple of hours can make!
After years of self taught thumping a lead, I have been enlightened into the correct OTG technique and even started on a pendulum. The past year or so I have been blaming my multiplier for the birdies but after learning to cast correctly I've realised the majority of birdies were most probably caused by my casting tecnique!
I've seen a different side to my multiplier and I like it!
If ever you get the chance to spend time with a casting instructor, do, you won't regret it.

It certainly does make a difference Rich as I found out. Keep it up and maybe see u on the beach this year.

$hockŁeader is a star too, all he wants after is a drink from the cafe, he helped me out as well, in 2 hours it must have put about 50 yards on my cast.

So have you ordered your Zziplex rod and your mag converted reel?
Have you checked the casting calandar for your next event?
You do know that this casting lark can become very addictive don't you?
No distance will ever be far enough!
You are doomed.
You will be seen by friends and neighbours pacing up and down lonely fields; muttering under your breath, " pull, punch, left arm out, look up, slowly in fast out".
Personally I beat the addiction by taking part in coarse fishing matches; no need to cast 150 yards there. Infact most of the time I don't cast at all; a pole is a wonderful thing

Thats the line that I started on coarse and small chalk stream trout.
My pole and box are in the garage kitted out. 14metre Daiwa pole for carp crunching when the time arises or size 24 spade ends for winter silvers when quiet.

I've had to leave out the casting at the moment back and neck are a bit sore. I don't think the casting field is for me though trying to improve on distance is addictive.
