Re: Spring Casting Session
That would be great to meet up again, not been to chesil since Dec (getting withdrawal symptoms). Have to check with the Boss later as casting at Westward this weekend, and possibly Dorchester on the 15th. Got the bug now, even got a new Kompressor Super Sport last weekend and boy does it go like s***t off a shovel.

Be good to meet up again bassbandit. Jonny, if getting your gear down and back is the problem I'm sure we can help with it. The main reason for choosing cogden is for safety with less other anglers on the beach.

Re: Spring Casting Session
7 days till the casting session and the weather is looking OK'ish. I tink clear sea's will be asking a bit much but with any luck they should at least be calm.
So far we have confirmations from;
me
slaphead
bassbandit
recordeater
chesilmaster (maybe?)
A few more would be great. I'll probably bring the gas stove down and some bacon for butties. Any other offerings gratefully accepted.
As far as bait goes I have about a pound of ragworm in the fridge and will probably head down and dig some more on friday so there should be some fresh wrigglies available. Whites seem to be favourite last time I was out.
So if you're free for a few hours next Saturday afternoon it will be well worth your while coming along. I'll be fishing in to darkness hoping for a stray bass to come along.

Re: Spring Casting Session
You may of met the guy at checkpoint or squidding on the pier as he usually walks along to speak to others fishing to try to pick up tips! His name's Dave ..Scottish bloke, going grey with a beard...fishes to eat and is keen to learn how to get more fish for the plate!!...I upset him one day by having a cast with his rod to show him that it was technique not the tackle that was putting him out just about 60 or 70 yards and he has taken instruction since and has improved but knows there's more left in his tackle..as do we all!!
...took him a while to get the cod at checkpoint as they seemed to be just out of his range most of the time...already reckon he's improved enough to find them this year though..he should be getting more than me cause he puts the hours in!!!

Re: Spring Casting Session
Just looking at options with Colin. Anything above a force 4 will put an end to casting tuition so I'm looking for alternative venues that offer some shelter. Weymouth would be sheltered but probably not suitable for casting practice. Seatown could be a goer but depends on the wind direction. Anyone have any other ideas.
I'll take a drive around on friday afternoon and sea what state things look like and post on here. I don't see any need to cancel meeting up but its the safety aspect with making it a casting tuition session which is in question.
