It still seems a lot,

Paying a yearly fee seems much better to me.

If I had a boat I think I'd like to be able to use it on the spur of the moment, like on a Sunday afternoon just decide to go out for a couple of hours (bit like my shore fishing, take the opportunity at short notice when I get a chance) I think if I was paying out before the boat even touched the water it would stop me wanting to use it.

The other option would be if you had something with a sail the you could join Portland sailing club, I was speaking to someone a little while back and they said that for the membership fee you get free storage for your boat etc - I can't remember how much they said but membership wasn't much.

You would just have to pretend you were going to sail it and stick the outboard on as soon as you were out of sight lol

I had no idea it was this expensive!

to keep a boat that size in the water at Weymouth marina would be £1600 a year or £2200 a year at Woolverstone.

Yeah that sounds about right, much more reasonable. Just have to pretend to be interested in sailing. Very Happy

Is there a waiting list for these moorings? and who do you contact about them?

Cheers

I don't think it has to be a sailing boat to get the annual membership at the academy. Me and Ian looked into it last year. For the number of times you are likely to get out I don't think its that good a deal, plus you are stuck with fishing around portland all the time when better fishing may be had elsewhere.
