Wind......
Sure this sort of question must have been asked before but can't find anything so please humour me....
I know there are other variables but if you are casting 200 yards with no wind at all how many yards might you roughly expect to lose with a 10mph headwind?
Ben

Re: Wind......
there are a lot of variables such as line diameter, weight size and height of cast, size of bait.
is that 200 yds with a plain lead on a field. even that may only go 160-170 yds into a 10mph headwind.
despite what people claim there are very few on here who can do 200yds.
250yds can only be done by a couple on here.

Nice pic, beats the last pic you sent me.
Cheers for the reply. I aint one of them that can do 200. Bought a measuring wheel so pretty accurate when I went out today which is only about the thrid time I have cast over grass, with the wind reckon I'm between 140 and 150, probably nearer 140 which I'm quite pleased with to be honest. Will give crack off colin a shout before too long, hopefully can add 30 - 40 yards without too much problem. (Famous last words).

Re: Wind......
Yep agree with BB a lot of things effect range including air pressure and in my case age. Sometimes when coaching I sort out an anglers style and all of a sudden he gains 30 to 50 yds and he is young and strong and he puts his lead further than I can but you have to accept that is the way it goes as you get older!!!!!
Been a long time since I have been in a field to cast my PB was 30 years ago at the old Budmouth school grounds which was 220yds nothing fantastic but the gear was different in those days. I have always been a fishing caster rather than a caster caster!
However there are a lot of anglers who think they fish at 150 yds with bait they would be disappointed if it was measured. I still maintain that any "Angler " that can put a bait 120 yds time after time or so is in the top 10% of casting anglers although some would disagree with that.
At the end of the day distance is a weapon you can use if wanted but there are plenty of fish sub 100 yds!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Wind......
Agreed, a lot of anglers are adamant they are fishing over 150yrds, I'd be surprised if I could hit that on the beach with two worm baits.
Re: Wind......
Iv seen you do it many a time boyo, shame they've not remained attached though!
I can cast over 200yards on grass, brads seen it with his own eyes but i can hardly hit 60yards with double whole squid or 2 dozen hurms on a pully. Put that into a head wind and i struggle to make the water from the top storm shelf!
