I did type the below text last night, but it didnt seem to post!

"That's fair enough, its those that squeeze in right next to you and then fling the lead round!
99% of my fishing is in remote spots of the BC so never a prob then, its just the odd trip to the busy spots and to be honest most times they don't cast any further than I do....now a well timed cast by a good caster that's a sight, but how many can do that with poor footing, a gale in your face and a whole squid for bait?"

So I'm in agreement with you guys, find space and fish how you want  Very Happy .....now who wants to teach me to cast properly  lol!

crack off colin is your man on here for casting. have a look at the bar at the top of the page and you will see a wee man with a fishing rod in his hand. i believe that is his link. after 1 session you will notice a hell of a difference and an off the ground style which he teaches you first lesson would be ideal on those remote rocky spots up the bc  Very Happy

Did get a kind of lesson from a local lad who casts at dorchy.
He showed me off the ground, but it did feel weird using reel down for the first time!

I keep meaning to practice with reel down again but never seem to get round to it  No  shame really.  I guess if my local spot needed a big cast I would have learnt by now.

I will give Colin a buzz when it warms up a bit...cheers.

First time I tried the reel down it felt so strange but now I can only use it down. Best thing is to get out and practice now it's getting light. Just take a couple leads and leader and let it have it lol

Bridgwater Sam, so most of my fishing is on the BC reefs, nice and local  Very Happy

Do keep meaning to visit chesil, but something always gets in the way!, and to be honest I don't like fishing blind so would rather meet up with someone who knows the ropes than go alone.

Cheers
