Ok Colin lets start this part of the forum.
I'm trying to get the OTG cast correct. I'm not sure what it's called but i lay the lead out on the deck at 270 degrees from it's supposed end direction then lower the tip of the rod to about 6 inches from the floor, then with straight(if i remember) arms i rotate at the waist and bring the rod butt around in an arc until my bottom hand is directly infront of my face and draw the bottom hand in while punching with the top hand.
Should i be transferring my weight to my front foot at the end of this motion as a boxer, golfer would? And how much weight in each foot? e.g. 50/50 to 90/10percent on front/back foot.
Hope that makes sense,
Thanks,
Julian.

THat is one version of the OTG cast try putting all your weight on your back foot by leaning away from the casting line and then forget about it as your body weight will move through the cast as it develops.

However an even better version is if you place the lead between the Rod tip which is out behind you with the tip near the sand and your feet on a 6ft drop slightly to the right of the rod. Hold arms away from your body then look up and punch upward.

This is called the Brighton Cast or unitech the advantage is that it loads(bends) the rod from the start of the cast so you have more power from word go.

In casting if you cant bend the rod then it will not cast also remember the HEAD is important always look up and punch upward if you look straight out to sea the cast will go low and left. Give it a go and let me know how it goes take it slow at first and then build in the power.
