Sea Fishing in Spain

Post by Triggerman on Sun Feb 14, 2010 12:33 pm

If anybody is thing of going to mainland Spain this year for their holiday make a note of the address below.

Calle de Stendhal, 13, 29007 Málaga, Andalucía, Spain near the A-7 main road
His name is Ruben.

This is the main tackle shop in Malaga they sell everything that you require to fish beach or boat.

I always believed that it was not worth the effort as the Spanish caught everything there was swimming but after my recent visit I have changed my mind.

Walking up and down the beaches at dawn and dusk the sea is filled with Beam and Bass with a few other Bream type fish I am talking fish up to 4 or 5lbs especially around the rocky outcrops.

I just regret that I did not find out about this tackle shop earlier and did not take my beach kit with me as I missed some brilliant fishing still maybe next time Rolling Eyes

Hi Triggerman

I know what you mean my sister lives in Javea on the mainland and they have a nice fishing harbour where the fishing boats unload their catches and where I have seen baracuda to 10lb taken amazing sight.

I do keep some gear over there but only managed small bream and bass there perhaps next time my luck will change!!

The advantage of fishing there is the fishermans bar that is on the quay 7.30 am warm weather a small beer and brecki cost £2.00 while watching the rods!! it doesnt get mutch better than that

Did the same the year before last in Brittany.

Didn't take my kit and ended using my brothers kit......last used circa 1990.

Not next time, going fully armed.

I had some minor success in Spain in October and have left a rod and some tackle in my parents place out there for future trips! Its worth noting though that light gear is all you'll need - I spent a lot of time snorkelling and whilst there are plenty of fish - 5lb is about as big as you see within 100yards of the beach!

That is what I thought and took some light kit and a tele rod but the beach and wave action where I was was more like chesil but a bit finer shingle and less of a drop unless you were near the rocks and it was a straight drop into deep water.
Most of all you could see plenty of fish moving around the edge of the deep water which was around 30ft just off the rocks so light gear would have been punished and I am told that it is against the law to fish for the Mullett in the Harbour/Marina and you will get arrested so didn`t fancy that Rolling Eyes

Razz Razz I have fished in Corfu the locals will take you out for the price of some cold beer there are some nice Sword fish although I did not catch any spent most of the time drinking ice cold beer on deck and watching them show how its done.

I did catch some good Mackerel and a few Snapper for the barbie on the beach though

Good reason for me to get more kit next time I'm there then!
