new boat rod.

Post by arther jay on Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:40 pm

Well i've got my new boat rod and can't wait to give it a go. Went for the tubertini gorilla 500 3m. this is a proper rod that will bend thou the tip but is all power thou the middle. the best thing about the rod is the weight of it, there is none... could not beleave how light it is.
But i would like to get a reel to match, Was think about a 6500 or something along those lines.
Any ideas or surgestions

prob be better off with a slosh 20 or 30 chris, not sure the 6500 will handle it unless you get the offshore

Nice rod with some good reviews and can cope with up to a pound of lead on the end Smile The 6500 C3 Baitcaster will handle it but a Shimano TLD 15 will serve more fishing types and has a much better build quality. Second hand look for a TLD 5 or 10, but they're very rare these days.

The other option is to move into the 21st century and go fixed spool with a Penn Slammer, etc Very Happy

I didn't buy a Tubertini rod Richard, but I was loaned one to play with for a few weeks and it performed flawlessly. Excellent rods, but I'm firmly a Rovex man Very Happy They developed the technology and the Daiwa Kenzaki and Tubertini, etc copied it (plus I have a friend at Jarvis Walker Wink )
