fishing dragons teeth advice please
hi all, im fishing the dragons teeth and coming from essex on saturday, through til sunday. are there any species that shouldnt be handled caught from the channel , or that great care should be taken when handling. and can anyone please tell me where i can find a list of species caught in the channel with images.

Don't think you are going to encounter any dangerous fish. Weavers are the only nasty ones and they are fairly rare on chesil.
As for care when handling, it depends what you want to do with the fish afterwards. If you are going to release the fish try and avoid touching it with your hands. Just hold the hook and shake the fish off into the sea.
If you catch a bass then take care of the spines on the dorsal fin and the very sharp edge to the gill cover. Bream also have sharp spines as do gurnard. Everything else should be straightforward.
If you want to see what is being caught just have a look through the catch reports. We often include pictures which will help you identify the fish.

Watch out for any dogfish wrapping around your wrist, they used their skin for sandpaper in the old days, as Weaver said best not to touch them unless you are keeping them, a wet towel comes in handy

My self and luke fished the teeth yesterday from 2pm to 8.30pm hoping for bream but all we got was 3 gurnard and lot of mackerell on the bottom .Saw a big shoal of whitebait go by and must of took all the fish with them as never had a thing for 2 hours after that.
