Spring Casting Session

Post by Weaver on Sun Feb 22, 2009 7:15 pm

Colin has given the go ahead for the next casting session. Its going to be on Saturday 14 March at Cogden beach, but will be weather dependent. We can meet on the beach from midday onwards. We'll start with some casting tuition to iron out the bad habits and refine our techniques before the serious business of plaice fishing gets underway. Low tide is around 2pm and we can fish the tide up using our improved casting distances to search out the plaice.

If you're interested in coming along just reply to this thread. As last time we can club together to get some lunch sorted and if everyone can contribute a little towards some bait for colin that would be great.

Thats a shame you can't make it. No doubt colin will be found lurking on the beaches throughout March and April.

Be good to meet up again bassbandit. Jonny, if getting your gear down and back is the problem I'm sure we can help with it. The main reason for choosing cogden is for safety with less other anglers on the beach.

Re: Spring Casting Session

7 days till the casting session and the weather is looking OK'ish. I tink clear sea's will be asking a bit much but with any luck they should at least be calm.

So far we have confirmations from;

me
slaphead
bassbandit
recordeater
chesilmaster (maybe?)

A few more would be great. I'll probably bring the gas stove down and some bacon for butties. Any other offerings gratefully accepted.

As far as bait goes I have about a pound of ragworm in the fridge and will probably head down and dig some more on friday so there should be some fresh wrigglies available. Whites seem to be favourite last time I was out.

So if you're free for a few hours next Saturday afternoon it will be well worth your while coming along. I'll be fishing in to darkness hoping for a stray bass to come along.
