You may of met the guy at checkpoint or squidding on the pier as he usually walks along to speak to others fishing to try to pick up tips! His name's Dave ..Scottish bloke, going grey with a beard...fishes to eat and is keen to learn how to get more fish for the plate!!...I upset him one day by having a cast with his rod to show him that it was technique not the tackle that was putting him out just about 60 or 70 yards and he has taken instruction since and has improved but knows there's more left in his tackle..as do we all!! Smile ...took him a while to get the cod at checkpoint as they seemed to be just out of his range most of the time...already reckon he's improved enough to find them this year though..he should be getting more than me cause he puts the hours in!!! Laughing

Just looking at options with Colin. Anything above a force 4 will put an end to casting tuition so I'm looking for alternative venues that offer some shelter. Weymouth would be sheltered but probably not suitable for casting practice. Seatown could be a goer but depends on the wind direction. Anyone have any other ideas.

I'll take a drive around on friday afternoon and sea what state things look like and post on here. I don't see any need to cancel meeting up but its the safety aspect with making it a casting tuition session which is in question.

Looks like we are caught between changing weather systems on Saturday so the forecast keeps changing. I'll take a look tomorrow but I reckon we are OK, just don't expect record breaking distances!

Yes, not sure where your forecast is coming from Bassbandit? I've been down to westbay at lunch today and the sea was flat with just a gentle breeze.

Lets confirm we will meet on the beach at 12pm tomorrow. If the wind picks up tomorrow morning I will take another look at post a message on here. Check out this thread before you set off. I should put something up by 10pm.

See you all tomorrow.

Ah, yes, gotcha. A bit breezy but I think it is still worth going. If it is too gusty when we first get there we can hold off on the casting tuition until the calmer weather moves through.

Just been out and had a look at the sea (our end) strong wind off shore which means onshore at chesil, sorry were going to pass on this one as long way to come when conditions not the best. Best of luck if you go and catch some red spots.

Just been down to westbay and it is just a breeze blowing parallel to the beach. Slight chop to the sea but it looks suprisingly clear. I should be down there around 11.30am. Been a few rays caught apparently but no reports of plaice.

See you down there if you can make it.
