Ballan Wrasse

Post by Drew on Sun Nov 21, 2010 9:17 am

Hi all,

Whilst fishing for Bass on Friday 19th November on Offshore Rebel (Weymouth) I inadvertantly landed a 7lb 5oz Ballan Wrasse on a blue 4" Storm Shad. Due to the atrocious weather conditions it was impossible to get an accurate weight, however the fish was on the upper mark between 7 & 8 lbs. on three sets of scales. Paul Whittal and the others involved agreed to settle at 7lb 5ozs.

If there are no objections I would like to claim the Boat Fishing Ballan Wrasse record.

Hi Andy,

Despite the conditions 9 of us landed over 60 Bass with 50 keepers, most between 3 & 6 pounds

I had 9 myself, one of which was the biggest, none were weighed. the weather was the worst that I have ever fished in, no one was seasick and all but one of us caught fish. Tackle losses were high and other than the professional boats we were the only boat that stayed all day. Not for the feint hearted.

Thats a cracker Drew. Can't imagine what a wrasse that size would look like, well done. Sounds like a trip I'd rather miss even with the successful results
