Re: thumb slip
Is this with wet line or just suffering in general???

Re: thumb slip
Take a look where your thumb is placed on the reel!! Silly I know but a lot of anglers and casters only put the top of the thumb on the line and hopefully with a lesson can't hold the power they have found.
The thumb should go all the way over the spool as far as it can go just take a look where your is.
Is the same as with a FS a lot of anglers place the line on the tip of the finger when they cast and wonder why the cast right and high they have premature release!!!
Put the line in the top joint of the finger and then cast problem solved

Re: thumb slip
I use a finger stall with a bit cut out of the top .....this give easy access for the thumb and I have it taped to the butt beneath the reel

Re: thumb slip
Was told by Roger Mortimore to place your thumb first over the spool then grip the rod and not the other way around. People tend to grip the rod first then just put the top of the thumb onto the reel without any real grip unles you have shovel hands.

Re: thumb slip
Never had a slippage since I started using inner tube. Used to use the marigold thumby, but found it still slipped when I'd baited up with oily baits.

Re: thumb slip
i dont have shovel hands but i have got long ass fingers (insert missing alien smilie lol) so getting my thumb over aint a problem and a near full length marigold finger cut off and kept in the top pocket of my floaty is ideal for me

Re: thumb slip
I use cricket bat handle grip (obviously cut up) and it works a treat. no more spool slip and no more ripped thumb from the leader knot
