Rain....We need rain
I have been working on the Frome and other fisheries all my life, and for the river to be this low and so empty of weed in April is a great worry for us all!
Like Joe we are stocking over the next few weeks (with his great fish), and have to review where we do it due to water levels.
This is the first forum I have been on so it could take a while!

Re: Rain....We need rain
Hi John, welcome to the forum mate, no doubt i'll be seeing you in a week or so It's so true we need rain so badly, and with the lack of weed on top of this the rivers are in a pretty sorry state. It seems to be the case on a lot of the rivers i've been stocking. The Test Itchen and Avon aren't much better and if this carries on we're gonna be in trouble. I guess the hard winter the reason why we have no weed??? and looking at the forcast for the next couple of weeks it looks pretty dry....
Re: Rain....We need rain
Get ready for the hosepipe ban!
As Joe has said, no forecast of rain for a few weeks.

Re: Rain....We need rain
Hi John, nice to see you on this forum
Despite the snow it's been a dry winter and the aquifers are getting low. The Winterborne has been dry through the village all winter - first time since I moved to Dorset. The Stour seems to be OK at present but I noticed how odd the Frome looked the other day - and I'm not talking about the abandoned WW2 shells littering the river bed

Yeah despite the levels and the lack of weed from what i've heard thee are plenty fish still coming out, so all is not lost.
Re: Rain....We need rain
The Piddle seems to be OK too despite the lower than normal levels I'm supposed to be fishing the Test in late June so I hope there's enough water to make the rod charge worth it...

Re: Rain....We need rain
You'll be lucky to catch a Salmon at Kimbridge mate, i worked at Broadlands Estate for 5 years and the most i ever saw caught in a year there was about 18 and thats one up from the sea pool. Some nice fishing though at Kimbridge, No doubt you'll have a good day, let us know how you get on.
