Moors Valley 28/01/12
Headed down to Moors Valley Country Park on Saturday in the hope of catching some of the pike that lurk around in the lake.
Fishing was very poor and there were 10 people all pike fishing and no one had a nibble apart from George who had a small jack pike of only a couple of ounces.
Don't know if they have a cormorant problem down there or something, but something wan't right.

if there was a comorant problem surely the pike would be hungry and easy to catch.... was it a bright day??? that usually kills pike fishin as they are sight feeders

Cormorants do have a bit of a taste for pike. It was sunny on and off but we were fishing our baits in shaded areas of lake and tried against reeds and in open water but just didn't get any bites.

yeah small juvi pike probs to a size of 10 inches. there are easyer food fish than pike, comorants will eat everything but it is size related. ive seen cormarants take rounder fish up to about lb.
