Hitting the bite...?
For the first time last night I tried pendulam casting with a M4 HiFlex and 170g sinker, went pretty well and although not sure of distance was adding considerable length to my casting. My question; there was a stage, just after you have lowered the tip and began to add proper compression, when you feel the rod 'bite', at this stage I felt that the rod was going to snap, bottled it a bit and took a little bit of power off, am I right or is this the compression casters talk about when speaking of the abiity to 'bend' a rod and something I should be aiming for and actually punch it as hard as poss?
Sorry, pretty certain the treminolgy I have used is bonkers but hopefully it makes some sense to somebody?
Cheers
Ben

Hi mate, perhaps you can try a smaller lead say 150g, was told by collin to try that first.

If the rod feels very very heavy then chances are you are towing the lead and hitting too early with lead inside arc of the tip. I'd say stick with the heavier lead and get timing right. The big leads teach this well, when its right the distance will come and it won't feel like like its gonna snap or pull your arms off.
