well today was one of those incredible days...just unbelievable. Today, chew produced 2 40lb+ fish plus a rumoured 7 30lb+ fish. the biggest being 41lb 4oz. a fish that went to an angler who smashed his pb twice today with a 17lb fish and the monster.

just incredible...chew just seems to be going from strength to strength.

I saw this on Martin Bowlers Twitter yesterday. Amazing! I'm going piking on Saturday but don't think I will get anything that big! Terry Lampard also had something like 33lb from the Milton Abbas syndicate a couple of weeks ago and was in Angling times with it.

Wow a pike close to 30lb on a fly is a hell of a fish. I went out to the Avon for an hour today before a meeting in Fordingbridge but didn't have a single follow. It was really just a test of the new set up, got a 9ft 10wt, new reel and line too, seemed to work well. I'm also joining a few clubs that have the rights to fishing on a lot of the SLA waters too so should be giving it a real go in the summer this year. I'll give you a shout mate for sure sounds like you've done your fair share, where abouts do you fish?

lol. i fish chew. mainly during the summer months. few areas on the lake that on a good day can produce 20-25 fish for 2 anglers on the fly. can be incredible sport at times. and they do go well on the fly. i actually use a 7# rod but i cut down on fly sizes and use flies tied with water repellent materials. makes the easier to cast and you get more out of catching the fish. one of my flies is a matuka styled lure. has hot orange and black buck hair tied in alternately. fantastic fly. and slow pulls, not fast like most do. had loads fish on the drop, before ive even started to retrieve!

God i bet a 30lb pike on a 7wt is interesting, i guess on a boat you've got more options. I went for the 10wt as it's recommended by the Pike society as the best option to reduce stress on fish, and i think it helps with the big flies. Just started tying a few flies but need to get some more materials really. I'll get in touch in the summer and see if we can arrange a day up there, looking forward to it.
