Re: boat cod record
I'm not one for records but if you've having a Forum Members' Alltime Record it should stand for ex-members too for an agreed period of years - say 5 years. I can see the point in having the current year's record only applying to current members.
Anyway, we're only talking about a 14lb 12oz Cod... I broke that a couple of times around the Needles this winter/Spring and there's much, much bigger Summer Cod out there on the wrecks and Brittle Star beds just waiting to be caught

Re: boat cod record
It has raised a question that needs to be addressed though.
Are these members records or anyones?
Members being those that contribute.

Re: boat cod record
I think that a all time record means all time. And I also think that lucy deserves the record. It was a great day out when she caught it, and I don't no or want to no the reason that she has left, but I don't think it was her choice to leave.
Having said all of that its not up to me, just my opinion.

Re: boat cod record
Just as a quick note on this, if we allow any record to stay we could have someone come on and not participtate in the forum but put up the records.

Tend to agree with Chris on this one, Personally I don't think Lucy had much of a "say" as to what happend to her account. I maybe wrong and if this is the case I apologize and mean no offence.

Re: boat cod record
Still divided then
Well, I don't know what to do myself. Lucy gained a lot of respect on the forum for her passion for fishing and I think we are being swayed by that. So I guess for now we will leave the record as it is, as Martyn said, there are bigger cod out there so it won't be long before someone lands another lunker. We'll leave it there for now and I will have a chat with the mods to see if we need a rule on this point for the future.

Re: boat cod record
Why not have a record for current members and another all time record for those no longer on the forum for whatever reason?
Re: boat cod record
Hi all,
with all due respect, Lucy was on a Forum boat trip and was lucky enough to catch and land a decent sized Cod to claim the Forum record. So far it has yet to be beaten. Whether we like it or not this is a still a Forum record.
She was a member at the time and as far as I am concerned her record should still stand. There are no Forum rules or regulations to say different.
We are all giving our own opinions on this matter. what is required is a set of rules and regulations, then and only then can a decision be made for future similar incidents.
I consider this Forum as the most friendliest Forum on the Web, all of us can agree to disagree in a friendly manner with no animosity, long may it continue.
This as I have said is only my opinion and I will continue to support the final decision of the Mods.
Regards
Drew

Re: boat cod record
Yes, I thing thats about right Drew. We'll leave it as is and as I said we'll look at getting some rules together. After all, its only a bit of friendly competition and gives us a target to aim for. If we can leave it at that for now and I'll discuss it with the other mods before getting the opinion of members.

Re: boat cod record
What you could do with any record that's open to question is simply award it to me by default, for being the most handsome forum member
