Re: Common Smoothound
I've had one of 7lb 1oz from the solent witnessed by Adrian, it will only count for the outside chesil record though.
Re: Common Smoothound
So do we count branscombe as on chesil or off

Re: Common Smoothound
As branscombe is off chesil beach!! why has the bull huss record been changed,,,,and the smoothy not been given.
what exactly are the bounderies,,as the forum comp is from westbay to cove, geographically this is actually the stated length of chesil beach,,,,

Re: Common Smoothound
As i remember it, fish from anywhere count and it was only Smoothies that had a on chesil and off chesil record due to the larger fish that come from the solent. As far as i'm aware it's only the 'chesil comp' that has to be fish from on chesil.
Hopefully Richard will be along soon and clear this up, so lets not get too excited

Re: Common Smoothound
This does have to cleared up,,as a lot of people think that its a'' chesil beach record''. if its a shore fish from anywhere then a lot of people on this forum are not counting some good fish caught from other locations..

Re: Common Smoothound
The records are for any fish caught in the UK, the records by are for members of the Chesil Forum. Extra lines will be added for an exceptional catch from Chesil and an extra line will be added.

Hope this clears it up a bit.....
The Chesil Comp is for Chesil only or OFF CHESIL for different prizes.

Not meaning to start a ruckuss,,,but surely this forum is about CHESIL and not the rest of the british waters,,which made this forum special.....
i'm sure lots of record fish have been caught off chesil and not entered due to the fact that they thought it was just chesil fish that counted,

Re: Common Smoothound
This was decided in the top thread in this section.
https://chesilbeach.forumotion.net/forum-members-records-f30/general-info-on-this-section-t2169.htm
Its more for the members, not just Chesil Beach. The records give a chance for a member of this forum to post there possible record within the forum from anywhere in the UK, but an exceptional fish caught from Chesil would be added in an extra line and would have a mention.

Re: Common Smoothound
Glad we've got all this sorted Deano, in my opinion you still have the biggest chesil huss but it's for the mods to decide if they are going to put it in a separate list or not.
At least you write a good report of your catches record fish or not, rather than just coming on and posting pictures and claiming records with no report of the trip, that is more appreciated by everyone on here mate

Re: Common Smoothound
i thought it was for forum members who catch the records on or off chesil dont think it needs to be just chesil......as their are 4 records not off chesil on the list???

Now now sounds like a dig there !!!! I was purely posting it for the list,
You are right Dean does put up good reports but for your info I am normally fishing with Deano and Minimal effort so not much point in doubling up on reports!!
Also as this is a CHESIL forum didnt think much point putting a catch report from Branscombe(now see that there is a lyme bay section and will report from now on as didnt know it was there), but obviously as you now understand the records are from all over and as such was worth putting up.
Dont you worry once this summer rubbish is out of the way and the proper fishing starts there will be plenty of reports from Chesil as we hit it hard over the winter.
