Re: Me casting
to be honest i wouldnt mind someone showing me how to pendulum as my overhead thump just isnt cutting it..... be most gratefull thanks
Re: Me casting
not being funny, but we had this discussion the other day, and i will mention it again.
There is no point bothering to try and learn the pendulum until you can cast an OTG a good distance ie. 200yds.
a good pendulum is merely a ground cast with a swing.
if you are adamant at wanting tio learn a pendulum cast, give crack off colin a shout. he is a casting instructor, but will make you learn to ground cast properly before progressing to a pendulum.

Re: Me casting
well i can ground cast pretty well just dont like doing it, esecially on the beach cause i just seem to unclip my baits all the time... thats the only reason really
Re: Me casting
I OTG, casting about 180yds ( & just over).
Have you tried different rig cobimations to halt the rig unclipping?
Srt springs work well, IMPS, and primarily get yourself set up to cast.
Get your feet comfortable, body in position. Once you have yourself set, you can touch down the rig keeping tention. Hooks will unclip if the rig isn't balanced (i.e big baits, etc). If it's big baits, have a look at using a De-vice.
Highly recommend staying on OTG and working to get that perfect before moving on to the pendulum.
The OTG cast isn't just an overhead thump, but a smooth trasition on the way to learn the pendulum if you so wish.
I'm still attempting the pendulum!

Re: Me casting
as you live in dorchester it will be well worthwhile coming to0 the casting days held on the 3rd sunday of each month. quite a few forum members attend and they all improve their casting techniques and distances.

Re: Me casting
With the issue of hooks un-clipping when touching down on the ground the gemini splash down weight locks the hook in place so it will always be clipped when you cast. How about giving them a go.

Re: Me casting
They certainly work very well and I use them on my clipped down rigs.

Re: Me casting
been using them for a while now only problem is they can be a bit fiddly with cold hands, never had one release prematurely or fail to release on impact
Re: Me casting
like Pete i've found that big hooks and cold weather make them more difficult to use

With the bigger hooks (4/o & 5/o) it's the barbs that prevent the point from going behind the slider......Simply pull up the bottom disc so the weight is in the "release" position, put the bend of the hook in the gap and push the disc back down.........works the same..........No probs..!

Re: Me casting
Thats how I do it Adrian. Never a problem, although I have had a few release in flight. I think as they wear a bit they slide a little too easily. Still, got a mould so going to keep using them.
