220m over grass is a long way!!
Bit of an eye opener watching people fling leads across this field!!!!!!..the top casters were getting between the 220m flag and the fence line.....follow the tapes out and you'll see the flags in the distance!!!!
Tom at inside of the 160m mark....he'd walked back a bit before the photo!!.....showing the casting point....the little yellow mark above his left (right as you look!!) shoulder!!!!
Personally I'd be chuffed if I could chuck it even as far as Tom...respectable distance that!!! ..but I know I can't..unfortunately I wasn't wrong with my guesstimate of a 100yards max on the beach ....with a good following wind!!!

It's always easier when I cast out from a high point on Chesil than you fellas do on flat grass I'm tempted to come up and watch some time but it will take a lot to get me showing off my finest OTG fixed-spool cast

Well I can recommend getting your turf tackle out for a bit of field fishing if you want to improve your casting!!

its a good job you took the photo from that perspective otherwise you'd never have seen tom from the other way.

That's all i do/use Martyn, imo at the "entry level" distances it's more about getting the technique right than it is about using multis and pendulum casts.
Come down to the next one - it's an enjoyable day.

Had to crop the photo and keep it zoomed or it would of been impossible to see the flags!!!!
