I'd go but everyone would laugh at my style I'm happy with 130 yards on a really good day from an OTG with a 16ft rod and a fixed spool

Re: weymouth casting club
If you go along to dorchy casting no-one will laugh at you because they are too busy taking the mick out of me and a few others. John Hodgson (organiser) is a nice bloke and more than willing to offer help and advice, both with your casting and the gear you are using. most caster are more than willing to offer advice.
Where else can you go and compete against the British champion and half of the England team on a regular basis.
You can pick up a lot of tips by watching the "big boys" and DO NOT be afraid to ask.
well done Andy on your 221m. probably see you on the 15th August. I'm hoping for a bit of wind this time to get that 250M

Re: weymouth casting club
Is the 15th the next meet?
I'm away, I will get there at some point!
Totally agree with you about John Hodgson, had a lesson from him a while back. Real nice bloke who helped me iron out a few things.
But the creases have come back a few times, just ask jfbee!

Re: weymouth casting club
yes, the 15th.
as a rule Dorchester casting meets are always on the 3rd sunday of each month, 12 months of the year.

Re: weymouth casting club
I think you can join the casting club which then equats to reduced fees on the day or you can pay a non-member fee.
I sure a member or anyone who goes along will confirm that Pete.

Re: weymouth casting club
Cheers Richard, I might take a trundle up there, do you supply your own leads and leaders or use specific ones supplied by the organisers (I'll warn you all if I do go then you can take your hard hats )

Re: weymouth casting club
For 150g lead you should use 0.31mm line which equates to Sakumas 14lb line. 175 g is 0.35mm line. You can buy the leads there for 60p and when they get mashed up, give him it back and buy another for 30p. I was using my fishing set up but bought 2 tournament reels off e-bay 3 months ago but just not had a chance to use them. Hopefully in Aug.
