Re: Common Smoothound
I'm all sorted about the rules and have no worries with bens fish being records just wanted it clear that a fish from anywhere in the uk can be classed as a record.....and not just chesil ,which i thought was the main reason for this forum..record catches from chesil..ben is a good mate and well deserves the records as he also puts in a lot of time and effort in finding the fish and also fishes with us and we all give great support for one another,,and learn a lot from each other too,,so well done ben on two new records,,,,,,,,now all i need to do is go and get a few fish to knock you back off,,,,,,
are you out with us friday?ben..

Cheers mate, I'm sure it wont be long and you will take some of the records back!
Bit of a wager coming on the Cod record I fancy
(not including your Norway trip though !!)
I hope to be out friday/sat but have to take my boy to footie so maybe first light sat rather than late fri.

Re: Common Smoothound
Only just got back to the forum so missed all this. Just to confirm then.
The records are "Forum Members" records and not chesil records. They can be caught anywhere in the UK and it is simply a recognition of how well we do as a group. When we started this section there were a few issues raised about certain species being harder to catch in larger sizes from chesil. So in recognition of this being a chesil forum we agreed to add extra lines for species that are records for chesil, but often easily beaten at other venues, The first couple of species to have added lines was the smoothounds. I think most other species can be caught to a good size from chesil, although I'm open to adding additional lines if need be. Perhaps the next obvious one that comes to mind are wrasse, as you don't tend to get huge ones from chesil. Anyway, its a flexible thing and anyone should feel that they can raise issues that we may need to address with regards to the records section.
Hope that helps.
