Message from John,

All

We are casting along Maiden Castle Road in the field just before the one with the hump in.

To get there leave the Dorchester Bypass at the A354 roundabout by the football ground and go towards the town centre, straight on at the mini roundabout (Tesco) and then first left into Maiden Castle Road. Drive along this road for about half a mile out into the country side and as you are approaching Maiden Castle (ancient earthworks) there is a track on the right which you drive down about 50m and we are in a field on the right. Alternatively just follow the Ancient Monument signs for Maiden Castle.

The weather forecast is for a strong SSW wind and dare I say it , rain. Hopefully we could have a really good day, with lots of PB's.

depends on the type of wind and air pressure.
strong winds do not always mean big distances Evil or Very Mad

if it is a windy day chuck a tuft of grass into the air and watch what it does.
if it is high pressure the grass is blown downwards towards the ground and doesnt go far.
if there is low pressure the grass will be blown along and upwards (lifting wind) and go a lot further.
therefore if you cast with a lifting wind the line will be blown along and up rather than being forced towards the ground. this can make quite a difference in distance.
simples really

you wont notice it too much on a 100 yd cast, but you certainly Twisted Evil will on a 250yd cast

I'm only joking!!!

I guess there are differeing milestones for everyone, your first 200yds(183m), then 220yds(200m) etc etc...

Personally i think any cast over 150m is a good cast... Wink
